Anchoring can be one of the most enjoyable parts of boating.  Some may like to hang out in short creek or near Guntersville Dam for lunch, an afternoon or overnight.  If you want to learn more about anchoring procedures and equipment you are welcomed to join a free presentation in the Ballroom at noon.  Bring your own lunch if you would like and call it "lunch and learn".

The presentation will be in PowerPoint format and presented by Chuck Wills who is a qualified instructor for the America's Boating Club organization.  The following are the subjects covered:

How to anchor and choose appropriate locations depending on conditions

How to select appropriate anchors, chain, and rode

How to effectively pick up moorings and raft your boat to other boats

How to use—and how to tie—the two knots most often used when anchoring: the anchor bend and the figure-eight knot

Please RSVP so we know how many tables to set up.

If this is successful we will consider other topics in future months.  Some other topics that have been suggested include; tying knots, locks and dams, engine maintenance, using the WIFI and TV systems at the yacht club.  If you have suggestions, they are welcomed.
